FM Editor – How To Change Substitution Rules In Football Manager

In this blog, I’ll show you how to change the substitution rules in Football Manager.

  1. Make sure your database is loaded.
  2.  Click on “Rules” and then on “Nation Rules.”

3. Select “Add Lower Divisions and Cups to Existing Structure.” Next, choose the nation where you want to adjust the substitution rules. Then click “Finish“.

As an example, I will change the substitution rules for the Eredivisie

4. Convert to Advanced Rules.

5. Then on the left side, open the dropdown menu and select the league for which you want to change the substitution rules.

6. On the left side, expand the league ► then expand “Stages” ► click on “Stage 0 – Leag (league).” Here you will find the “League Settings” option. Click on it.

You will probably see different stages listed. These include stages such as European football qualification or relegation playoffs. Separate rules are used for these stages. So, if you want to adjust the substitution rules here as well, you’ll need to do that under the other stages too.

7. Scroll down. Here you will see “Substitution Rules.” Change it according to your preferences.

As an example, I have 5 from 15. This means you can substitute 5 times from 15 substitute players.

I have successfully changed the substitution rules for the Eredivisie to 5 from 15. For more manuals on the FM Editor, visit this page.
